CRIME STOPPERS Licking County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a robbery in a gas station parking lot in Hebron. On September 10th at around 10:00 p.m., a female employee was approached by two male suspects wearing ski masks in the parking lot of the Kroger Fuel Center on E. Main St. One suspect told the employee to go back inside the store and open the safe, but she refused and tried to get into her vehicle. While one suspect prevented her from opening her door the other one grabbed her purse. After a short struggle, the suspects fled with the purse and ran westbound on U.S. 40. HONORING FIREFIGHTERS Governor Strickland issued an order Friday calling for flags to be lowered to half-staff yesterday in observance of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. Newark Fire Chief Jack Stickradt says all members of the department understand the risks associated with the job.
Chief Stickradt
tells KOOL 101.7 News that the last firefighter to die in the line of duty
in Newark was Chief Don Skeen back in the 1960’s. PINK STRIDES Pink was the color of choice at Saturday's Pink Strides Walk sponsored by the Licking County Health Departments SASS for breast cancer program. Angie Zigan is a local breast cancer survivor who has gone through a long journey since first being being diagnosed last year.
Zigan says women who may be
diagnosed in the future need to make sure they work with their doctors to
come up with the best strategies for fighting the disease and to always lean
on their family and friends for support.
According to event organizers the walk raised a little over $1,800
for the breast cancer program.
