FUNERAL SERVICES FOR CHESTER FLOWERS

Funeral services will be held this afternoon for a man who dedicated his life to the Village of Hanover. Chester Flowers died last Friday at the age of 98. He served on village council for more than 40 years and was instrumental in Hanover’s growth. After the funeral, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Hanover Township Hall.

FATAL STABBING KNOX COUNTY

A juvenile has been arrested and charged in a stabbing death at a home in Knox County. According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Tuesday night deputies received a report of an injured person at a home on King Road in Howard. Upon arrival they found an individual deceased from apparent stab wounds. The names of those involved has not been released. The incident remains under investigation.

PUBLIC MEETING

The City of Johnstown is hosting a public meeting today to present the proposed improvements for the US 62/Ohio 37 intersection. The meeting will start with a short presentation followed by an open house where the public is invited to ask questions related to the proposed improvements. Today's meeting gets underway at 5:30 pm in Johnstown Council Chambers.

BLESSING BOXES

The Creating Healthy Communities program in Licking County wants to hear from residents on where they should install blessing boxes to increase access to food.

Kierstin Jay, with the Licking County Health Department is asking folks to fill out a short survey to help them identify the best locations for blessing boxes. To fill out the survey visit the Licking County Health Department's Facebook page.

SENATE BILL 56

Tuesday, the Ohio Senate passed Senate Bill 56 that would ban intoxicating hemp products and make it illegal to bring legally purchased marijuana back to Ohio from another state. The Ohio House passed the bill in November. It now goes before Gov. DeWine for his signature

COMMUNITY ENERGY PROJECTS

With electric rates on the rise over the last decade, Ohio lawmakers are considering a measure encouraging community-level energy production. Molly Bryden with Policy Matters Ohio says as a net energy importer, the state needs to add capacity to its power grid.

House Bill 303 would allow communities to build small-scale energy facilities that could power around 2,000 homes.
